The sacred and symbolic tradition of Qurbani on Eid-Al-Adha is deeply significant in the religious context and also beneficial with regard to world impact. Eid-Al-Adha is an opportunity for us Muslims to reflect upon the unwavering faith Prophet Ibrahim (AS) had in Allah. The Qurbani is symbolic of the extraordinary sacrifice Prophet Ibrahim (AS) was willing to make for his Lord, whilst also teaching the Ummah what true submission to one’s Lord means.
As Eid al-Adha and the sacred month of Dhul Hijjah draws closer, we at Raza Foundation invite you to share your blessings and donate your Qurbani to those who need it. Your Qurbani donation can help feed the vulnerable communities for whom eating meat is a luxury.
We at team Raza Foundation ensure your Qurbani donations reach the vulnerable communities in the form of fresh meat during the sacred occasion of Eid-Al-Adha. We guarantee a fair and equitable distribution of your Qurbani sacrifice amongst those who need it the most.
Your Qurbani donation goes beyond just the families who receive meat. Our volunteers ensure that the sacrifice and distribution of meat are done to the highest standard, and all meat is sourced locally to support local communities.
For the 6th consecutive year, The Raza Foundation has provided Qurbani meals to the neediest. Help put food on the tables of the vulnerable again this year and give the poor families a joyous Eid and delicious meal with your generous sacrifice!
Qurbani is the practice of sacrificing an animal for Allah (swt). Each year, during the Islamic month of Dhul Hijjah, on the days of Eid al-Adha (from 10th to 13th of Dhul Hijjah), Muslims around the world sacrifice an animal to mark the completion of Hajj.
This Qurbani or sacrifice honours the unwavering faith and submission of the Prophet Ibrahim (as), who was prepared to sacrifice his beloved son Ismail (as) after seeing a dream that Allah wanted him to do so. However, the dream was simply a test from Allah, and He sent down a ram from heaven to be sacrificed in Isma’il’s (as) place instead.
This is the significance of Eid-Al-Adha and the Qurbani. This is why Muslims offer a Qurbani each year to mark this spirit of sacrifice for Allah and submission to His will.
There are two schools of thought on the matter. According to the Hanafi school of Islam, offering Qurbani on Eid-Al-Adha is compulsory. Whilst for the Shafi school it is Sunnah to make a sacrifice or Qurbani on Eid-Al-Adha.
The following people in the said circumstances are exempt from Qurbani:
• People who are not mentally stable
• People who have not yet reached and attained puberty
• People who are travelling and are away from home (approx 40–45 km)
• People who do not possess 52.5 tolas of silver, or equivalent wealth

The animals that can be slaughtered for Qurbani are goats, cows or camels.
• The camel must be older than 6 years
• If it is a cow, it must be older than 3 years
• If it is a goat, it must be older than 2 years
After the sacrifice is made on Eid-Al-Adha, Islamically the animal is split into three equal shares — one share is for the donor, one for the donor’s extended family and friends, and one share for the people in need.
When a believing servant of Allah makes a Qurbani donation to a charity, with the intention of feeding those in need, we make it a point that your donation (in full) reaches those in need, in the form of fresh meat.
The Eid-Al-Adha Qurbani requires you to sacrifice an animal — a goat, sheep, cow or camel, during the Islamic month of Dhul Hijjah. Once the animal is sacrificed, we at Raza Foundation ensure that the Qurbani meat is distributed fairly to the vulnerable communities in need.
When you donate your Qurbani with us, you can be sure that we have adhered to the Islamic principles and the sacrifice is carried out in accordance with Islamic regulations.
